Wynn Plaza Shops

Aquirred in 2018 by Wynn Resorts, Arrows and Flower Neon Sign, is a collaboration between Japanese artist Takashi Murakami and Rockford, IL born fashion designer and D.J. Virgil Abloh.

Blending the signature arrows from Abloh's "Off-White" fashion label with Murakami's iconic rainbow flower, this masterwork is inspired by the neon signs that are a hallmark of Las Vegas.

After studying civil engineering and while pursuing a Masters degree in architecture at the Illinois Institute of Technology, Abloh's interest in fashion was sparked by fellow architect and fashion designer Rem Koolhaas.  Upon graduation in 2009,     Abloh interned at Fendi along side Kayne West.  In 2013, Abloh created the high-end streetwear brand "Off-White."  Through this work, he was named artistic director of Louis Vuitton's menswear ready to wear line in 2018.

Takashi Murakami began his artistic career hoping to work in animation, but transitioned to creating work that was in the style of social criticism and satire.  Murakami began a long-lasting collaboration with Louis Vuitton in 2002, and provided the cover artwork for Kayne West's 2007 album Graduation and 2018 collaboration album Kids See Ghosts with Kid Cudi.

Abloh's interest in music saw his DJing beginning as a teenager.  In 2019, he was granted a DJ residency at XS, the nightclub located in Encore Las Vegas, just feet away from both an Off-White store and where this art work  is currently displayed.

Takashi Murakami's work continues to be exhibited in museums and galleries throughout the world.

In 2019, Abloh was diagnosed with a rare type of cancer, cardiac angiosarcoma, and he passed away on November 28, 2021.
